Joe the Plumber Disses McCain - "I wanted to get off the Bus!"

Now that the campaign is over I guess the "truth" can be told, eh Joe?

"Joe Wurzelbacher lashed out Tuesday at former GOP presidential nominee John McCain, the man who made Wurzelbacher famous as “Joe the Plumber.”

Wurzelbacher told conservative radio host Glenn Beck that he felt “dirty” after “being on the campaign trail and seeing some of the things that take place.”

Recalling a conversation he had with McCain about the $700 billion financial industry bailout in September, Wurzelbacher said: “When I was on the bus with him, I asked him a lot of questions about the bailout because most Americans did not want that to happen.”

“I asked him some pretty direct questions,” he continued. “Some of the answers you guys are gonna receive — they appalled me, absolutely. I was angry. In fact, I wanted to get off the bus after I talked to him.”

No doubt the media will have some fun with this. But Wurzelbacher is only reflecting what a lot of us conservatives felt. We all wanted to get off the bus. Hell we never wanted to get on it with McCain in the first place. But as Joe said, vs. Obama there was really no choice.

Internet Anonymity Being Challenged in Court

Via Network World:

"Be careful the next time you engage in an Internet flame war: it could land you in court.

The Maryland Court of Appeals is taking up a case this week that could have major implications for Internet users' ability to anonymously post their opinions on the Web. The case revolves around Zebulon Brodie, a Maryland businessman who is alleging that he has been defamed by anonymous Internet users who posted messages on a Web site owned by Independent Newspapers, a community newspaper company that owns local papers in Arizona, Delaware, Florida and Maryland.

Specifically, Brodie wants Independent Newspapers to disclose the names of three anonymous users whom he alleges defamed him by calling him a polluter.

According to a report in the Maryland Daily Record, an attorney representing Independent Newspapers argued in court Monday that the First Amendment grants citizens the right to make anonymous controversial comments and that compelling hosts to disclose the identities of anonymous posters would have "a chilling effect" on free speech."

This case is worth watching for a number of reasons. Specifically for bloggers but especially for commenters who use anonymous names to post comments that sometimes border defamation and slander. Bloggers have to be especially careful because no matter what they are responsible for the content of what's on their blog.

It's one of the reasons I have such a strict moderation policy and occasionally have to delete a comment.

The Question is: What did Barack Obama Know and When Did He Know It?

The arrest of Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich for corruption. Jake Tapper at ABC News writes:

"Obviously like the rest of the people of Illinois I am saddened and sobered by the news that came out of the US attorney's office today," said President-elect Obama this afternoon in Chicago, speaking of the criminal complaint against Democratic Gov. Rod Blagojevich for corruption. "But as this is a ongoing investigation involving the governor I don't think it would be appropriate for me to comment on the issue at this time."

Asked what contact he'd had with the governor's office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening."

But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."

Here's the video:

After Tapper's first report he updated to reflect the usual denials from the Obama camp, "Axelrod misspoke", yada, yada. But the video is very clear and Axelrod was very definite. So either Axlerod lied - not misspoke or there is a coverup underway.

Ben Smith of the Politico asks:

"The statement (of Axelrod) doesn't answer a question that I've asked, so far fruitlessly, of the transition, which is when Obama and Blagojevich last spoke on any subject, and what about."

One thing is for sure. Fitizgerald isn't stopping with just Blagojevich's trying to sell a Senate seat, otherwise there would be no need for the Grand Jury in the case to seek records on the Rezko/Obama real estate deal.

I think Mike's America at Flopping Aces has it right that a Special Prosecutor should be appointed at this point.

BREAKING: Feds take Gov. Blagojevich into custody ***UPDATE: Drudge announcing Grand Jury Subpoenas Issued on Rezko/Obama Land Deal**Fitzgerald Press

Awaiting confirmation:

"Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested today by FBI agents on federal corruption charges.

Blagojevich and Harris were accused of a wide-ranging criminal conspiracy that included Blagojevich conspiring to sell or trade the Senate seat left vacant by President-elect Barack Obama in exchange for financial benefits for the governor and his wife. The governor was also accused of obtaining campaign contributions in exchange for other official actions.

Blagojevich was taken into federal custody at his North Side home this morning.

A Blagojevich spokesman said he was unaware of the development. "Haven't heard anything -- you are first to call," Lucio Guerrero said in an e-mail.

The stunning, early morning visit by authorities to the governor's North Side home came amid revelations that federal investigators had recorded the governor with the cooperation of a longtime confidant and had begun to focus on the possibility that the process of choosing a Senate successor to President-elect Barack Obama could be tainted by pay-to-play politics.

Blagojevich was taken into custody hours after the Tribune reported that the investigation into allegations of pay-to-play politics within his administration had been expanded to include his pending choice of a Senate replacement for Obama. The Democratic governor has said he expects to make a decision on the state's next senator in weeks.

Stay tuned on this one, because as you might know, Blagojevich is tied to the hip with Tony Rezko who has been swawking it up with the feds.

Question, who's next?

Can we dream?

UPDATE: Holy Cow, this thing is exploding. Drudge Report has blaring headline: GRAND JURY SUBPOENAS ISSUED ON REZKO/OBAMA LAND DEAL.

Doug Ross covered the Obama/Rezko FBI probe earlier this month.

Via this news release from November 4th from the GOP:

"A former Illinois real estate specialist says FBI agents have questioned him about a Chicago property that had been bought by convicted felon Tony Rezko's wife and later sold to the couple's next-door neighbor, Sen. Barack Obama.

The real estate specialist, Kenneth J. Conner, said bank officials replaced an appraisal review he prepared on the property and FBI agents were investigating in late 2007 whether the Rezko-Obama deal was proper.

"Agents and I talked about payoff, bribe, kickback for a long time, though it took them only a short number of minutes of talking with me while looking at the appraisal to acknowledge what they already seemed to know: The Rezko lot was grossly overvalued," Mr. Conner told The Washington Times Monday.

"Rezko paid the asking price on the same day Obama paid $300,000 less than the asking price to the same seller for his adjacent mansion," he said. "This begs the question of payoff, bribe, kickback."
In a wrongful-termination complaint filed last month in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Mr. Conner said his appraisal of the Rezko property, held in Rita Malki Rezko's name, was replaced with a higher one and he was fired when he questioned the document.

Mr. Conner, a former real estate and commercial credit analyst at Mutual Bank Corp. in Chicago, noted in the complaint that the bank received a grand jury subpoena in October 2006 requiring it to produce information concerning Mrs. Rezko's purchase, including the bank's files on the property. ..."

Since good ole Patrick Fitzgerald is the proescutor on this the Blagojevich case, and now it's coming home to roost on Rezko and Obama dealings could this really be Fitzmus after all?

Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Fitzgerald presser:

Additionally Hot Air has the scoop of who gave Blago up.

UPDATE: Gee trying to sell a Senate seat get's you a $4500 bail?

Get Your Wii On!

If you've been hankering to get a Wii, or get one for the kids so that you can play with it, Monday's your day. Just head to Wal-Mart's website:

"NEW YORK (Reuters) - Nintendo Co Ltd's Wii has emerged as one of the few hot products this holiday season, and Wal-Mart Stores Inc will offer "tens of thousands" of the hard-to-get video game consoles on its website starting on Monday.

Walmart.com said it will offer the Nintendo Wii console for $249.24, and a "value bundle," which includes the console and other items like an extra set of controllers, for $329, while supplies last.

The Wii has emerged as one of the most sought-after gifts this holiday season, which has otherwise been lamented for a lack of new and hot products.

On Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving which marks the start of holiday shopping, the Wii was the most searched-for product on the Yahoo Shopping site. It was also the most popular product on eBay, with 3,171 of the consoles selling for an average price of $349 that day.

As of Friday night, the Wii console was sold out on Walmart.com, bestbuy.com and circuitcity.com. Bestbuy.com listed the sold-out Wii for $249.99."

For Pearl Harbor, Your Service, for Everything, Thanks Dad

"Yesterday, December 7, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy - the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan." - Franklin D. Roosevelt's Speech, December 8th, 1941.

My father, who died in 2004, was at Scofield Barracks, on that Sunday Morning. He was a 19 year old Supply Sergeant in the 25th Infantry Division:

A little history of his unit and their exploits during and after Pearl Harbor:

"On 7 December 1941 the 24th and 25th Divisions had the distinction of being the first U.S. Army divisions to see combat in WWII when they returned the fire of Japanese aircraft strafing Schofield Barracks. After the attack the 25th Division quickly moved to defensive positions to protect Honolulu and Pearl Harbor against a possible Japanese invasion.

In November 1942 the Division underwent intensive jungle and amphibious warfare training and sailed for Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands to relieve the 1st Marine Division. The 25th operating as part of the XIV Corps commenced offensive operations against the Japanese on 7 January 1943. In less than a month and against a determined enemy who offered fierce resistance the 25th Division wiped out the Japanese dug in on Mount Austin and conducted an envelopment through the jungle to cut off retreating Japanese forces. The speed in which the Division accomplished these missions earned it the nickname "Tropic Lightning". For its valor on Mount Austin the 35th Infantry Regiment was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation.

Dad would go on to serve through the Korean conflict, but the point is that because they served, the Japanese were defeated in 1945 along with the Germans before them. All because a nation stood up to tyranny, not because they backed down and allowed it to flourish. My father would say that one thing he never heard - except from the enemy - was "Surrender".

"Damn that! We never surrender, we're Americans!, We don't quit".

Thanks Dad for your sacrifice. Thank you for my life. On this day and every day I salute you my comrade, as I salute all the brave men and women who served then, and serve now. Thank you - "Keep up the Fight - Never Surrender - NEVER!"

I miss you!

William "Dollar Bill" Jefferson Loses Re-election

Well now!

"CNN) -- Nine-term Democratic Rep. William Jefferson, who has been battling scandals and a federal indictment for the past three years, appears to have lost his bid for re-election.

Republican challenger Anh "Joseph" Cao, an attorney and community organizer, has defeated Jefferson in the 2nd Congressional district race, according to The Associated Press.

With 79 percent of precincts reporting, Cao had 52.9 percent of the vote to Jefferson's 43.2 percent.

Louisiana's 4th District race with Democrat Paul Carmouche and Republican John Fleming is a virtual dead heat with each garnering 48 percent of the vote with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

Both men are vying to replace retiring 10-term Republican Rep. Jim McCrery, a top-ranking Republican on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.

Elections in the districts were delayed after Hurricane Gustav hit Louisiana in September, setting up what should be the last two federal contests of 2008 on Saturday. Both races had two other contenders who drew a small percentage of votes.

Jefferson has pleaded not guilty to 16 criminal counts of racketeering, bribery, money laundering and obstruction of justice. He denies any wrongdoing.

In 2005, Jefferson's private homes in Washington and New Orleans were raided, and FBI agents say they found $90,000 in cash stashed in one of his freezers.

Officials say the money was part of a payment in marked bills from an FBI informant in a transaction captured on videotape. Jefferson also is accused of soliciting and receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes for himself and his family in exchange for promoting their products and services to countries in Africa."

Jefferson's attorney's have succeeded in getting his trial delayed until Jan at the earliest. Meanwhile it appears the voters did what the Democratic leadership failed to do ever since Jefferson was indicted.

Kick him to to the curb.

Obama's Plan for the Economy - Out of Touch

The Politico covers Obama's plan for economic growth.

"Obama had committed just before Thanksgiving to saving or creating 2.5 million jobs in the next two years, more than twice his campaign promise of 1 million new jobs over an unspecified period. But he didn’t say how he would do it. On Saturday, he began to spell it out, offering "five key parts" of his economic plan:

—ENERGY: “[W]e will launch a massive effort to make public buildings more energy-efficient. Our government now pays the highest energy bill in the world. We need to change that. We need to upgrade our federal buildings by replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs. That won’t just save you, the American taxpayer, billions of dollars each year. It will put people back to work.”

—ROADS AND BRIDGES: “[W]e will create millions of jobs by making the single largest new investment in our national infrastructure since the creation of the federal highway system in the 1950s. We’ll invest your precious tax dollars in new and smarter ways, and we’ll set a simple rule – use it or lose it. If a state doesn’t act quickly to invest in roads and bridges in their communities, they’ll lose the money.”

—SCHOOLS: “[M]y economic recovery plan will launch the most sweeping effort to modernize and upgrade school buildings that this country has ever seen. We will repair broken schools, make them energy-efficient, and put new computers in our classrooms. Because to help our children compete in a 21st century economy, we need to send them to 21st century schools.”

—BROADBAND: “As we renew our schools and highways, we’ll also renew our information superhighway. It is unacceptable that the United States ranks 15th in the world in broadband adoption. Here, in the country that invented the Internet, every child should have the chance to get online, and they’ll get that chance when I’m president – because that’s how we’ll strengthen America’s competitiveness in the world.”

(Incoming White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had talked about expanding broadband access, but this is the first time the transition has formally proposed it.)

—ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS: “In addition to connecting our libraries and schools to the Internet, we must also ensure that our hospitals are connected to each other through the Internet. That is why the economic recovery plan I’m proposing will help modernize our health care system – and that won’t just save jobs, it will save lives. We will make sure that every doctor’s office and hospital in this country is using cutting edge technology and electronic medical records so that we can cut red tape, prevent medical mistakes, and help save billions of dollars each year.”

If this is the "Big Plan" that Obama supporters have been waiting for it must be anticlimatic. After all rehashing 50-year old government "get to work" plans simply won't work in today's economy.

In the 50 years since Ike build the nation's interstate system, the task of building roads has become boondoggle of red tape, delays and budget overruns. Take a look at the last time you noticed a highway contruction project in your area and you'll see why.

The people who drive the heavy equipment all the way to those who clear the trenches are all union employees by and large and as such are paid good salaries. Yet at a time when the government is going into hock giving away cash to failed banks and car companies the last thing they can do is begin a construction company.

Bill Ayers is still a terrorist

He really wants you to like him.

"IN the recently concluded presidential race, I was unwillingly thrust upon the stage and asked to play a role in a profoundly dishonest drama. I refused, and here’s why.

Unable to challenge the content of Barack Obama’s campaign, his opponents invented a narrative about a young politician who emerged from nowhere, a man of charm, intelligence and skill, but with an exotic background and a strange name. The refrain was a question: “What do we really know about this man?”

Secondary characters in the narrative included an African-American preacher with a fiery style, a Palestinian scholar and an “unrepentant domestic terrorist.” Linking the candidate with these supposedly shadowy characters, and ferreting out every imagined secret tie and dark affiliation, became big news.

I was cast in the “unrepentant terrorist” role; I felt at times like the enemy projected onto a large screen in the “Two Minutes Hate” scene from George Orwell’s “1984,” when the faithful gathered in a frenzy of fear and loathing.

With the mainstream news media and the blogosphere caught in the pre-election excitement, I saw no viable path to a rational discussion. Rather than step clumsily into the sound-bite culture, I turned away whenever the microphones were thrust into my face. I sat it out.

Now that the election is over, I want to say as plainly as I can that the character invented to serve this drama wasn’t me, not even close. Here are the facts:

I never killed or injured anyone. I did join the civil rights movement in the mid-1960s, and later resisted the draft and was arrested in nonviolent demonstrations. I became a full-time antiwar organizer for Students for a Democratic Society. In 1970, I co-founded the Weather Underground, an organization that was created after an accidental explosion that claimed the lives of three of our comrades in Greenwich Village. The Weather Underground went on to take responsibility for placing several small bombs in empty offices — the ones at the Pentagon and the United States Capitol were the most notorious — as an illegal and unpopular war consumed the nation.

The Weather Underground crossed lines of legality, of propriety and perhaps even of common sense. Our effectiveness can be — and still is being — debated. We did carry out symbolic acts of extreme vandalism directed at monuments to war and racism, and the attacks on property, never on people, were meant to respect human life and convey outrage and determination to end the Vietnam war."

Bathtub water. Let's go back to that little accident in Greenwich Village via Wiki:

"The Greenwich Village townhouse explosion was the premature detonation of a bomb as it was being assembled by members of the American "urban guerilla" organization, Weatherman (later rechristened the Weather Underground), in the basement of a townhouse at 18 West 11th Street in New York City's Greenwich Village. The three persons nearest the bomb were killed, two others in the house were slightly injured, and the four story townhouse was reduced to rubble and caught fire. d Shortly before noon on Friday, March 6, 1970, people in the townhouse were assembling anti-personnel weapons armed with roofing nails and packed with dynamite. Years later, former members of the organization who had not been at the scene advanced differing (but not incompatible) claims as to the plans for use of the bombs. Thus, according to Mark Rudd, the plan was to set them off that evening at a dance for noncommissioned officers at the Fort Dix, New Jersey Army base. According to a detractor, "former members" have reported that some of the bombs were destined for the Fort Dix dance and others for Butler Library at Columbia University."

In spite of Ayers skipping over this point, it's also of note that he was one of the primary planners of the attack. Thus in some circles of law and justice he would not only reponsible for attempted murder, but culpable in the deaths of his comrades.

In any case whether "youthful exuberance" or not, Ayers is not only an unrepentant terrorist, but he's also a murderer.

Lin Farely, who had an association with the group Ayers founded recounted this from Timothy Noah of Slate wrote in 2001 of Ayers and the Underground.

“The weather underground was full of rich kids who thought they knew best. Who wanted to kill in order to stop killing. To many on the left they were heroes, I thought they were jackals. And William Ayers exemplified the worst when on 9/11, 2001, in an interview for his book ” Fugitive” he said in the NY times:

‘I don’t regret setting bombs; I feel we didn’t do enough.’

…Much of what Ayers self-interestedly leaves out of his book is more personally embarrassing than illegal. Ayers takes care not to dwell on his own Establishment credentials. (His father was chairman of the energy company Commonwealth Edison, a fact Ayers conveys only by writing, “My dad worked for Edison.”) Ayers omits any discussion of his famous 1970 statement, “Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents, that’s where it’s really at.” He also omits any discussion of his wife Bernardine Dohrn’s famous reaction to the Manson killings, as conveyed by journalist Peter Collier: “Dig it. First they killed those pigs, then they ate dinner in the same room with them, then they even shoved a fork into a victim’s stomach! Wild!” (In a 1993 Chicago Magazine profile, Dohrn claimed, implausibly, that she’d been trying to convey that “Americans love to read about violence.”) Nor does he address fellow radical Jane Alpert’s charge that Ayers was “notorious for his callous treatment and abandonment of Diana Oughton before her death and for his generally fickle and high-handed treatment of women” (though Ayers does manage to get across the message, to those few who haven’t heard it, that the late 1960s and early 1970s were a golden age for getting laid).”

Barack Obama Citizenship Scandal Update

It's not over until....again, either Obama's grandmother is a confused old woman, or ...

As you know Philip Berg, an attorney in Philedelphia is leading the charge to have Barack Obama prove his citizenship. Yes we know about the certificate of live birth, but again, his own grandmother, as well as several others who know him in Kenya say otherwise.

Whether Berg is a nut or not, or a patriot will be up the interpreter. But the case is ongoing. While Berg's case was thrown out of court and the Supreme Court via U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter refused to hear the case to stop the tabulation of votes after the election, he has ordered Obama to respond to the Writ of Certiorari" by Dec. 1.

Meanwhile there is rumblings about about the log entry detailing the birth of Obama in Kenya now being secured in the UK.

AP: Polls Tighen - Obama leads by ....1?

Keep hope Alive!

"WASHINGTON (AP) - The presidential race tightened after the final debate, with John McCain gaining among whites and people earning less than $50,000, according to an Associated Press-GfK poll that shows McCain and Barack Obama essentially running even among likely voters in the election homestretch.

The poll, which found Obama at 44 percent and McCain at 43 percent, supports what some Republicans and Democrats privately have said in recent days: that the race narrowed after the third debate as GOP-leaning voters drifted home to their party and McCain's "Joe the plumber" analogy struck a chord.

Three weeks ago, an AP-GfK survey found that Obama had surged to a seven-point lead over McCain, lifted by voters who thought the Democrat was better suited to lead the nation through its sudden economic crisis."

Again, as I've been telling you on the show the current polling is bogus and off the chart because they sample more than 50% more Democrats than Republicans. Something that's noted in this story.

"Charles Franklin, a University of Wisconsin political science professor and polling authority, said variation between polls occurs, in part, because pollsters interview random samples of people.

"If they all agree, somebody would be doing something terribly wrong," he said of polls. But he also said that surveys generally fall within a few points of each other, adding, "When you get much beyond that, there's something to explain."

Yeah, hold your breath for C-BS to explain that 14 point gap in their poll last week.

Upstanding Democrat who Replaced Mark Foley Caught in Sex Scandal

Note to Pelosi, the Swamp.....

"West Palm Beach Congressman Tim Mahoney (D-FL), whose predecessor resigned in the wake of a sex scandal, agreed to a $121,000 payment to a former mistress who worked on his staff and was threatening to sue him, according to current and former members of his staff who have been briefed on the settlement, which involved Mahoney and his campaign committee.

Mahoney, who is married, also promised the woman, Patricia Allen, a $50,000 a year job for two years at the agency that handles his campaign advertising, the staffers said.

A Mahoney spokesperson would not answer questions about the alleged affair or the settlement, but said Allen resigned of her own accord and "has not received any special payment from campaign funds."

Senior Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives, including Rep. Rahm Emanuel (D-IL), the chair of the Democratic Caucus, have been working with Mahoney to keep the matter from hurting his re-election campaign, the Mahoney staffers said.

A spokesperson for Emanuel denies that account, but said Emanuel did confront Mahoney "upon hearing a rumor" about an affair in 2007 and "told him he was in public life and had a responsibility to act accordingly." The spokesperson added that it was a "private conversation" that had nothing to do with Mahoney's re-election prospects.

Emanuel's spokesperson said Emanual had not had any further contacts with Mahoney on the subject and did not know the woman involved worked on Mahoney's Congressional staff until informed by ABC News.

Mahoney was elected two years ago following the abrupt resignation of his disgraced predecessor, Republican Mark Foley, whose lewd internet messages to teenage boys and Congressional pages created a national outrage.

The affair between Mahoney and Allen began, according to the current and former staffers, in 2006 when Mahoney was campaigning for Congress against Foley, promising "a world that is safer, more moral."

Roll that Swamp Music!

Yeah, "Moral". It's a Swamp Thing. By the way, since West Palm Beach is right up the road, we're on it. So is Gateway Pundit.

FACT: Obama was a New Party Member!

It's not not a matter of conjecture, it's a matter of fact.

"In June sources released information that during his campaign for the State Senate in Illinois, Barack Obama was endorsed by an organization known as the Chicago "New Party". The 'New Party' was a political party established by the Democratic Socialists of America (the DSA) to push forth the socialist principles of the DSA by focusing on winnable elections at a local level and spreading the Socialist movement upwards. The admittedly Socialist Organization experienced a moderate rise in numbers between 1995 and 1999. By 1999, however, the Socialist 'New Party' was essentially defunct after losing a supreme court challenge that ruled the organizations "fusion" reform platform as unconstitutional.

After allegations surfaced in early summer over the 'New Party's' endorsement of Obama, the Obama campaign along with the remnants of the New Party and Democratic Socialists of America claimed that Obama was never a member of either organization. The DSA and 'New Party' then systematically attempted to cover up any ties between Obama and the Socialist Organizations. However, it now appears that Barack Obama was indeed a certified and acknowledged member of the DSA's New Party.

On Tuesday, I discovered a web page that had been scrubbed from the New Party's website. The web page which was published in October 1996, was an internet newsletter update on that years congressional races. Although the web page was deleted from the New Party's website, the non-profit Internet Archive Organization had archived the page.

From the October 1996 Update of the DSA 'New Party':

"New Party members are busy knocking on doors, hammering down lawn signs, and phoning voters to support NP candidates this fall. Here are some of our key races...

Illinois: Three NP-members won Democratic primaries last Spring and face off against Republican opponents on election day: Danny Davis (U.S. House), Barack Obama (State Senate) and Patricia Martin (Cook County Judiciary)."

Beyond the archived web page from the Socialist New Party is the recognition by the "Progressive Populist" magazine in November 1996 that Obama was indeed an acknowledged member of the Socialist Party.

"New Party members and supported candidates won 16 of 23 races, including an at-large race for the Little Rock, Ark., City Council, a seat on the county board for Little Rock and the school board for Prince George's County, Md. Chicago is sending the first New Party member to Congress, as Danny Davis, who ran as a Democrat, won an overwhelming 85% victory. New Party member Barack Obama was uncontested for a State Senate seat from Chicago. "

Will the media do it's job now and report this so that the American people are fully informed?

McCain/Obama Live Debate Thread ***Video Added Watch It Here!***UPDATE: McCain wins on points, but disappoints.

Beginning at 9pm EST, live thread of the debate. Here's what I'm looking for from McCain.

1. No more Mr. Nice Guy. McCain needs to hit Obama on his associations with Ayers and Wright and not back down. Millions of Americans have not seen this information, it's time to let them know.

2. Tell voters that he - not Obama - warned of the Fanny and Freddie mess and that the root of the mess is the inaction of Obama and his Democratic cohorts over the last five years. Let the American people know that he tried to stop it but the Democrats blocked attempts at reform. The result is $800,000 of their money going down the drain to federalize the free market.

3. Get Obama off his script. Make him mad, get him flustered and searching for words, which he has done before. Show America just how much of a fraud he is when he's not being told what to say by his handlers.

UPDATE: FACT CHECK per the Corner:

"Obama's letter to Paulson and Bernanke was written on March 22, 2007. 25 subprime lenders failed in February/March of 2007, and the largest subprime lender New Century Financial was teetering on collapse (it filed for bankruptcy five days after Obama's letter). His letter was a response to headlines, not some prescient call to action."

UPDATE: Obama's dumb statement of the night, "A lot of you remember the tragedy of 9/11." As if we forgot?

UPDATE: Via CNN who is the only MSM organization getting off it's ass to look at Obama and Ayers:

"A review of board minutes and records by CNN show Obama, crossed paths repeatedly with Ayers at board meetings of the Annenberg Challenge Project. The Annenberg Foundation gave the project a $50 million grant to match local private funds to improve schools, and Ayers fought to bring the grant to Chicago, according to participants and project records. The project's organizing committee asked Obama to serve as the board chairman in 1995. Annenberg Project Executive Director Ken Rollings said Ayers was not a member of that ad hoc group when the decision was made. For seven years, Ayers and Obama -- among many others -- worked on funding for education projects, including some projects advocated by Ayers...the board, for example, gave hundreds of thousands of dollars to Bill Ayers' small schools project. The project promoted alternative education, including projects like the Peace School -- where the curriculum centered on a United Nations theme -- and another school where the focus was African-American studies...The project shut down in 2003 after achieving "little impact on school improvement and student outcomes," its final report stated. While working on the Annenberg project, Obama and Ayers also served together on a second charitable foundation, the Woods Fund. It was that foundation that Obama referenced in the debate -- not the Annenberg Challenge.Among Wood Foundation recipients were the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's Trinity United Church, where Obama attended and was married; and the Children and Family Justice Center, where Ayers' wife Dohrn was director."

Not bad for someone you "hardly knew" eh Barry? This is why asking Obama about Ayers is relevant, because he's LYING.

UPDATE: Once again, here's Obama view on our national security:

UPDATE: EPILOG: Overall, a dissapointment. McCain doesn't go after Obama on Freddie and Fannie, or Ayers, and that's a shame. They are all valid points. The bailout for homeowners infuriates my "conservative" side, but I understand the move. Homeowners - taxpayers - qot squat on the bailout and are pissed. McCain offered a plan to them, Obama just danced around the question.

While it's bad conservatism, it's a risky, yet savvy political move. Even though only 9 percent of homeowners are in trouble with their mortgage, that could translate into a few points of support from the independents in that group.

The 14 Lies of Joe Biden in Last Night's Debate

Should change his name to Pinocchio Joe! Count 'em, 14 lies Joe told in the VP debate last night.

1. TAX VOTE: Biden said McCain voted “the exact same way” as Obama to increase taxes on Americans earning just $42,000, but McCain DID NOT VOTE THAT WAY.

2. AHMEDINIJAD MEETING: Joe Biden lied when he said that Barack Obama never said that he would sit down unconditionally with Mahmoud Ahmedinijad of Iran. Barack Obama did say specifically, and Joe Biden attacked him for it.

3. OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING: Biden said, “Drill we must.” But Biden has opposed offshore drilling and even compared offshore drilling to “raping” the Outer Continental Shelf.”

4. TROOP FUNDING: Joe Biden lied when he indicated that John McCain and Barack Obama voted the same way against funding the troops in the field. John McCain opposed a bill that included a timeline, that the President of the United States had already said he would veto regardless of it’s passage.

5. OPPOSING CLEAN COAL: Biden says he’s always been for clean coal, but he just told a voter that he is against clean coal and any new coal plants in America and has a record of voting against clean coal and coal in the U.S. Senate.

6. ALERNATIVE ENERGY VOTES: According to FactCheck.org, Biden is exaggerating and overstating John McCain’s record voting for alternative energy when he says he voted against it 23 times.

7. HEALTH INSURANCE: Biden falsely said McCain will raise taxes on people's health insurance coverage -- they get a tax credit to offset any tax hike. Independent fact checkers have confirmed this attack is false

8. OIL TAXES: Biden falsely said Palin supported a windfall profits tax in Alaska -- she reformed the state tax and revenue system, it's not a windfall profits tax.

9. AFGHANISTAN / GEN. MCKIERNAN COMMENTS: Biden said that top military commander in Iraq said the principles of the surge could not be applied to Afghanistan, but the commander of NATO's International Security Assistance Force Gen. David D. McKiernan said that there were principles of the surge strategy, including working with tribes, that could be applied in Afghanistan.

10. REGULATION: Biden falsely said McCain weakened regulation -- he actually called for more regulation on Fannie and Freddie.

11. IRAQ: When Joe Biden lied when he said that John McCain was “dead wrong on Iraq”, because Joe Biden shared the same vote to authorize the war and differed on the surge strategy where they John McCain has been proven right.

12. TAX INCREASES : Biden said Americans earning less than $250,000 wouldn’t see higher taxes, but the Obama-Biden tax plan would raise taxes on individuals making $200,000 or more.

13. BAILOUT: Biden said the economic rescue legislation matches the four principles that Obama laid out, but in reality it doesn’t meet two of the four principles that Obama outlined on Sept. 19, which were that it include an emergency economic stimulus package, and that it be part of “part of a globally coordinated effort with our partners in the G-20.”

14. REAGAN TAX RATES: Biden is wrong in saying that under Obama, Americans won't pay any more in taxes then they did under Reagan.

C-BS Cooks the Polls (Again) for Biden/Palin Debate - Luntz Group (using real people you can see) puts the win squarely with Palin

As it should be, Palin won.

C-BS cooked up a similar poll of so-called uncommitted (people who usually don't vote anyway) after last week's democratic debate. The breakdown nearly 2-1 democrat respondent making the poll useless for anything except a headline. CNN's poll used a likewise breakdown. The quickness at which CNN posted their results - within ten minutes of the debate - proves they knew exactly how well Palin did.

The point is with Luntz's group is that it was decidedly with Palin - enormously so - and although a smaller sample it was balanced and diverse and actually had people you could see.

In essense the polls are meaningly and cooked, Palin won over America last night just as she did during the RNC. It's hugh and the polls will show it in the coming days.

Obama Wrong Change for Children - The Truth about Obama and Abortion

****Warning*** the second video is graphic but needed to make the point that Barack Hussein Obama is not the friend of children some would have you believe. In fact you might have seen this video where children praise Obama.

But this video tells you how Obama really feels about the children, especially the disposability of the unborn.

What Palin has to do tonight - Semi Live Blog ***UPDATE: Sad Joe and the Nixon Shadow

Sarah Palin doesn't need to do anything tonight except be herself. Do not, I repeat, do not believe the MSM or the polls, they are missing the point on her - as they always do - big time. In spite of the MSM assasination attempts on her, Palin is still packing in crowds and it's growing - NOT shrinking.

You should no by now that polls are created to make news and it's in the question that the news is formed. Subsequently when polls are seemly showing Palin sliding in popularity nothing is further from the truth.

We see this every election. We saw it in 2000 and especially in 2004 when the media threw everything but the kitchen sink at George Bush. I remember hearing the same moaning and groaning that it was all over and that we'd all be calling John Kerry president on November 5th.

It didn't happen. It didn't happen because no matter what the polls said or the leftwing media elite threw out there America made up it's own mind and in the end George Bush won by a comfortable margin.

It's going to happen again in one month.

All Palin will have to do is show that she is the true agent of change and hope, not Barack Obama. It's funny for all the talk about how she doesn't know supreme court decisions, and seems lost in trick question interviews, people miss - or ignore - the fact that Barack Obama isn't the brightest bulb on the tree either. AFter all Palin doesn't have 300 foreign policy advisers or the army of coaches and image consultants that Obama has on the payroll.

She doesn't carry a teleprompter to ever speaking event like he does either, nor get lost when she can't find the script.

Like Obama:

In fact the best thing about Sarah Palin is that she's not a fraud like Barack Obama is, and that's all she has to get across to the American Public tonight.

UPDATE: Just dropped in, server problems again, but Palin is performing above expectations and Joe Biden looks....old and angry. This is a Nixon moment for him and may just turn this around for McCain yet. I'll comment as needed.

UPDATE: Palin wins the debate hands down. On Fox News Frank Lunz's focus group was off the chart for Palin, predicts hugh swing for McCain in the polls over the next couple of days. I agree.

UPDATE: Michelle Malkin: Sarah Rocks! Yes she does indeed and it's why you will see the media assassination attempts continue, but it's not going to work. America will be turning to Sarah Palin, one of their own who is like them in ways a Barack Hussein Obama cannot begin to.

Picking on Palin - Hey Joe, tell us about the Pipeline!

Odds are that Mr. Hairplugs - who didn't know that FDR was NOT president in 1929 wouldn't know. Yet the MSM continues it's gang rape of Sarah Palin by going after her answer to perky Katiie about the Supreme Court case Marbury vs. Madison.

"Tonight's installment of Katie Couric playing Roger Mudd to Sarah Palin's Ted Kennedy features the much-anticipated Supreme Court non-answer.

The bad news for McCain: This offers yet more evidence that Palin has thought little about many policy issues facing the country and world.

The good news for McCain: This is the last footage Couric has. We think."

Again, not a surprising take on from the Obama Apologetic - aka The Politico (Official News Magazine of the Obama Campaign). But the fact is that when Biden was asked about specific Supreme Court decisions he couldn't cite either, but then he's not a feisty hocky mom that makes Jonathan Martin so angry he could just spit.

Senate Passes HANDOUT with SWEETENERS attached!

The Senate Vote?

"WASHINGTON - After one spectacular failure, the $700 billion financial industry bailout found a second life Wednesday, winning lopsided passage in the Senate and gaining ground in the House, where Republicans opposition softened.

Senators loaded the economic rescue bill with tax breaks and other sweeteners before passing it by a wide margin, 74-25, a month before the presidential and congressional elections.

In the House, leaders were working feverishly to convert enough opponents of the bill to push it through by Friday, just days after lawmakers there stunningly rejected an earlier version and sent markets plunging around the globe.

The measure didn't cause the same uproar in the Senate, where both parties' presidential candidates, Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama, made rare appearances to cast "aye" votes.

In the final vote, 40 Democrats, 33 Republicans and independent Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut voted "yes." Nine Democrats, 15 Republicans and independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont voted "no."

Now it's back to the house. Keep the phones ringing, let them know NO to the bailout.

Why Conservatives will have to Fight Back

Glenn Reynolds:

"A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS: "Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted."

Of course this has been true for a while and it's all the more reason that The Conservative Consumers Union is needed. Again, the CCU would use the buying power of American Conservatives to go after MSM news organizations where it hurts - in the advertising revenues - to pressure these news organizations to print the WHOLE truth and not just their biased little end of it.

Most if not all of MSM is owned and run by companies that exist to make money. The lion share of that money is in advertising. Simply put CCU would work to hold advertisers accountable for their backing of biased media coverage by withholding patronizing their products. This would be more than a letter campaign, or phone calls and emails, but would be all encompassing. For instance running ads that expose advertisers and media figures for their bias while asking others not to support them would be one approach.

How effective would this be? Studies have shown that a lot of advertising is in fact geared towards conservatives, espcially those who are successful have families and money. While liberals fall into this category the numbers aren’t as great.

In short it’s good old fashion people power.

We all know that the media has been ignoring many of the scandals and stories about Barack Obama because by their own admission they are rooting for him to win the election. MSM outlets feel that they simply do not have to answer to the masses and report their view of things and to those who disagree it’s “eat cake”.

However if enough pressure would come to bear on the advertisers of CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, CNN and yes even FOX, that might just change.

We know it does for we have seen accountability forced on media by the great work of bloggers and other new media people. Just last week this blog - along with others - called for a boycott of US Weekly for that trashy cover of Sarah Palin and son Trig. The result was over 10,000 subscriptions cancelled. At the present subscription price that cost the magazine over $250,000.

Remember that one person forced CBS to cancel a mini-series on Ronald Reagan back in 2003.

They say money talks and they are right. It does talk and the power of it can force the powers over these outlets to get it right, or get off the air.

Again, this is just a concept, but in the process of making it a reality.

Thoughts on the Bailout Defeat

Been out of the office today, but here's a few thoughts on the failure of the bailout vote. First this disturbing news from Larry Kudlow:

"A number of Republican House members and staff, along with others who are plugged in, are telling me that Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats will come back with a new bill that includes all the left-wing stuff that was scrubbed from the bill that was defeated today in the House.

As this scenario goes, the House Democrats need 218 votes, and they have to pick up a number of black and Hispanic House members who jumped ship because the Wall Street provisions, in their view, were too benign. So things like the bankruptcy judges setting mortgage terms and rates, the ACORN slush-fund spending, the union proxy for corporate boards, stricter limits on executive compensation, and much larger equity ownership of selling banks through warrants will all find itself back in the new bill. Of course, this scenario will lose more Republican votes. But insiders tell me President Bush will take Secretary Paulson’s advice and sign that kind of legislation."

Which stiffens my theory that Democrats engineered this whole collapse by way of inaction through 2006 until now so as to gain "control" of the banking industry by federalizing it. Make no mistake that is exactly what this bailout is intended to do. The 700+ point drop on Wall Street was nothing more than the market's "hissy fit" for not getting it's way.

I watched Fox, MSNBC, CNN tonight and without fail all of them screamed that the sky is falling and that if this bill isn't passed on Thursday at the next vote all is over. Let's not forget however that all the major news orgs are run by giant corporate conglomerates that have heavy investment in Wall Street so it's no doubt that their anchors are simply relaying the panic of their employers.

The market plunged, and might do so again tomorrow, but nevertheless the bailout isn't the right way to go. Keep up the pressure on our side of the house, the fact is that Larry is most likely right and democrats may just shove this thing through with all the earmarks and perks attached. But we have to stay firm on the GOP side.

So let the Democrats pass this mess and when it blows up - and it will down the road - they will not have the GOP to blame.

Sources: Rezko may Implicate Obama dealings in Deal with Prosecutors?

Very sketchy, but Rezko isn't a happy camper and has been singing like a bird. Via the Chicago Trib:

"Antoin "Tony" Rezko, a convicted influence peddler who was once one of Gov. Rod Blagojevich's most trusted confidants, has met with federal prosecutors and is considering cooperating in the corruption probe of the governor's administration, sources told the Tribune.

Rezko's possible change of heart—after years of steadfast refusal—has sent ripples through a tight circle of prominent defense attorneys who represent dozens of potential witnesses and targets in the wide-ranging probe.

His cooperation would give prosecutors investigating the governor and his wife access to someone they have described as an ultimate political insider at the center of a pervasive pay-to-play scheme.

Rezko's trial this year laid bare a culture of scams, bribes and backroom deals stretching from City Hall to the Statehouse. It even became fodder in the presidential campaign of Democratic nominee Barack Obama, whose fundraising and personal ties to Rezko go back more than a decade.

Rezko has made no deal in the wake of his June corruption conviction, sources familiar with the situation said, but has had preliminary talks with prosecutors before an October sentencing that could put him in prison for years. Still, there are indications Rezko has already provided investigators with information.

Four attorneys have told the Tribune in recent days that federal prosecutors have telephoned them and other attorneys either with news Rezko is talking, or armed with details only Rezko could know. The lawyers speculated prosecutors are using the preliminary talks with Rezko to shake loose more cooperation from other witnesses.

"I had very recent a conversation with an assistant U.S. attorney that led me to believe they were getting specific information from either Mr. Rezko or Mr. Rezko's lawyer," said a defense attorney who said he represents a figure in the case. None of the attorneys interviewed would agree to be quoted by name, saying they didn't want to hurt their clients.

The U.S. attorney's office in Chicago declined to comment, as did Rezko's attorney William Ziegelmueller."

Hard to tell exactly what Rezko is talking about. The feds want Blagojevich, and the prosecutor's office has been leaning towards reopening queries into Rezko and Obama according to several sources with knowledge of the dealings.

It looks like Rezko was looking to have "friends" get him out of jail and now feels "screwed" and that's a bad place for him to be for his acquaintances and friends from the past.

What if? Obama's buddy William Ayers might have accomplished

Pajamas Media:

"In less than the blink of an eye, the blast of eight tightly-bound sticks of dynamite shattered the brittle wooden shell of the building hastily constructed during the Second World War, adding jagged splinters and rusting nails to the shrapnel that ripped through cheap tables and chairs, taffeta and chiffon, uniforms, and flesh.

Before the concussive shock waves reverberated off nearby buildings, half a dozen human beings closest to the outside wall of the NCO Club became mist.

The roof, lifted skyward by the explosion and suddenly absent a supporting wall as it returned to earth, crashed down on the dead and dying. Leaking bottles from the shattered bar fed the rapidly spreading flames, and deafened, dazed and bleeding survivors crawled or stumbled towards escape in ones and twos.

As soldiers from nearby buildings ran to help the bleeding and burned, a carefully-crafted 12″ pipe-bomb studded with roofing nails hidden in a nearby trash can went off, turning rescuers into additional victims.

Just outside Fort Dix confused onlookers sat in stunned amazement, as a pair of nondescript young women nervously laughed and counted ambulances for a half hour before losing count and heading back to the townhouse in Greenwich Village. The message had been sent.

Though he would have no way of knowing it at the time, the Weatherman’s attack on the non-commissioned officer’s dance would stand as the deadliest act of terrorism on U.S. soil for 25 years, 1 month, and 13 days, until Timothy McVeigh drove into Oklahoma City and infamy."

This is Bob Owens writing about what might have happened on March 6th, 1970 had Ayers and his buddies succeeded in bombing a Fort Dix NCO club. One which I frequented while stationed there. Of course it didn't because the assailants blew themselves up instead. The devices were nail bombs that were designed to rip their victims to shreds.

What is a fact is that a would be President of the United States of America is a friend of one who would plan such an attack. That person is Barack Obama.

AP's Lame Attempt at Scandal - Slime Story on Palin

Lame:

"WASILLA, Alaska (AP) -- Though Sarah Palin depicts herself as a pit bull fighting good-old-boy politics, in her years as mayor she and her friends received special benefits more typical of small-town politics as usual, an Associated Press investigation shows.

When Palin needed to sell her house during her last year as Wasilla mayor, she got the city to sign off on a special zoning exception - and did so without keeping a promise to remove a potential fire hazard.

She gladly accepted gifts from merchants: A free "awesome facial" she raved about in a thank-you note to a spa. The "absolutely gorgeous flowers" she received from a welding supply store. Even fresh salmon to take home.

She also stepped in to help friends or neighbors with City Hall dealings. She asked the City Council to add a friend to the list of speakers at a 2002 meeting - and then the friend got up and asked them to give his radio station advertising business.

That year, records show, she tried to help a neighbor and political contributor fighting City Hall over his small lakeside development. Palin wanted the city to refund some of the man's fees, but the city attorney told the mayor she didn't have the authority."

As one who worked in a city for eleven years this is standard fare and not a bit out of line. In fact our democratic mayor had a new take home vehicle for personal use which got replaced every year IN THE BUDGET. Not an eye brow raised. As you go on reading the story you find nothing that wasn't done before or after Palin.

Additionally, all these "gifts" were disclosed in public records as required. That means "AP" that it's not "unethical" to receive certain gifts or even "perks" so long as they are not forbidden by law and disclosed. Seems the writer missed that point.

Of course the next sentence is another lame attempt at "disqualifying" Palin:

"Palin claims she has more executive experience than her opponent and the two presidential candidates, but most of those years were spent running a city with a population of less than 7,000."

Which is 7000 more people than Barack Obama has ever governed over, a point which the MSM willfully misses.

By the way, Sharon Theimer, the AP writer of this story is a registered Democrat.

Obama was asked NOT to wear soldier's son bracelet

Newsbusters asks, "Where is the media", on the story that the family of Ryan Jopek - the soldier who's name he forgot - had asked him NOT to wear it any more.

"Barack Obama played the "me too" game during the Friday debates on September 26 after Senator John McCain mentioned that he was wearing a bracelet with the name of Cpl. Matthew Stanley, a resident of New Hampshire and a soldier that lost his life in Iraq in 2006. Obama said that he too had a bracelet. After fumbling and straining to remember the name, he revealed that his had the name of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek of Merrill, Wisconsin.

Shockingly, however, Madison resident Brian Jopek, the father of Ryan Jopek, the young soldier who tragically lost his life to a roadside bomb in 2006, recently said on a Wisconsin Public Radio show that his family had asked Barack Obama to stop wearing the bracelet with his son's name on it. Yet Obama continues to do so despite the wishes of the family."

Disgusting. But what we have come to expect from democrats. Remember it's Barack Obama who called for defeat in Iraq to make the sacrifice of our soldiers for naught.

UPDATE: Jake Tapper who's still pulling for that Press Secretary Job on the Obama Administration begs to differ. Nevertheless the fact remains that there is enough doubt that if Obama truly respected the wishes of the family and the memory of the fallen he wouldn't be wearing it.

The Media's Amazing and Dangerous Blindness About Barack Obama

While SNL and the Media continue the assault on Sarah Palin telling us that "she's not ready" they continue to dangerously ignore the fact that Senator Barack Obama isn't ready to be the leader of the free world.

An example of this media sellout and their ridiculous arguments against Sarah Palin is brought to you by Fareed Kararia - noted Obama shrill. Commenting on the Couric interview he takes offense at Palin's answer to the "bailout question":

"COURIC: Why isn't it better, Governor Palin, to spend $700 billion helping middle-class families who are struggling with health care, housing, gas and groceries; allow them to spend more and put more money into the economy instead of helping these big financial institutions that played a role in creating this mess?

PALIN: That's why I say I, like every American I'm speaking with, were ill about this position that we have been put in where it is the taxpayers looking to bail out. But ultimately, what the bailout does is help those who are concerned about the health-care reform that is needed to help shore up our economy, helping the—it's got to be all about job creation, too, shoring up our economy and putting it back on the right track. So health-care reform and reducing taxes and reining in spending has got to accompany tax reductions and tax relief for Americans. And trade, we've got to see trade as opportunity, not as a competitive, scary thing. But one in five jobs being created in the trade sector today, we've got to look at that as more opportunity. All those things under the umbrella of job creation. This bailout is a part of that.

This is nonsense—a vapid emptying out of every catchphrase about economics that came into her head. Some commentators, like CNN's Campbell Brown, have argued that it's sexist to keep Sarah Palin under wraps, as if she were a delicate flower who might wilt under the bright lights of the modern media. But the more Palin talks, the more we see that it may not be sexism but common sense that's causing the McCain campaign to treat her like a time bomb."

Note there is no reasoning for this dismissal, just "nonsense", typical of the left's swatting away of things they don't like. There was nothing wrong with the answer and in fact is the way that many Americans feel about this boondoggle of a bailout. Zakaria should get out of his Newsweak office and meet some people sometime.

Let's forget the fact of the logically fallacy of the moment. First, Obama is running for President, Palin is not. The chance of Palin, who is the VP candidate - not the Presidential candidate - taking the top position in the next four years is nearly a million to one.

So let's dispense with the false argument that whether or not she could be president NOW even matters. Let's move to the one who would be KING, Barack Obama. Leading the polls and possibly 37 from now, America may just elect a man who has had - and may still have - ties with a known domestic terrorist, and with two people with open hatred of America, Louis Farrakhan, and Jeremiah Wright.

A man who can't see to stay on subject when talking about Iraq:

Who doesn't have much more luck with healthcare:

Who can't even remember the name of a solider's name on his bracelet a mom asked him to wear.

Who has a flipant view about the dangers of Iran and Russian and other world thugs:

And who wants to disarm America so that we cannot respond to the threats that these "tiny countries" present.

There is no way that any other candidate for President would have survived such controversy and continued to be a candidate. Not only is the MSM been a willful participant in failing to cover the stories that would inform Americans about Obama, they will be totally to blame for the cataclysm that will be sure to follow.

DOJ may open Investigation into Obama's use of Law Enforcement to Quell Critics

Governor Matt Blunt of Missouri responding to Obama Goose-steppers:

"JEFFERSON CITY - Gov. Matt Blunt today issued the following statement on news reports that have exposed plans by U.S. Senator Barack Obama to use Missouri law enforcement to threaten and intimidate his critics.

“St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, Jefferson County Sheriff Glenn Boyer, and Obama and the leader of his Missouri campaign Senator Claire McCaskill have attached the stench of police state tactics to the Obama-Biden campaign.

“What Senator Obama and his helpers are doing is scandalous beyond words, the party that claims to be the party of Thomas Jefferson is abusing the justice system and offices of public trust to silence political criticism with threats of prosecution and criminal punishment.

“This abuse of the law for intimidation insults the most sacred principles and ideals of Jefferson. I can think of nothing more offensive to Jefferson’s thinking than using the power of the state to deprive Americans of their civil rights. The only conceivable purpose of Messrs. McCulloch, Obama and the others is to frighten people away from expressing themselves, to chill free and open debate, to suppress support and donations to conservative organizations targeted by this anti-civil rights, to strangle criticism of Mr. Obama, to suppress ads about his support of higher taxes, and to choke out criticism on television, radio, the Internet, blogs, e-mail and daily conversation about the election.

“Barack Obama needs to grow up. Leftist blogs and others in the press constantly say false things about me and my family. Usually, we ignore false and scurrilous accusations because the purveyors have no credibility. When necessary, we refute them. Enlisting Missouri law enforcement to intimidate people and kill free debate is reminiscent of the Sedition Acts - not a free society.”

Well there is more. I'm told that the DOJ will be looking into (most likely referring to the FBI) this as a possible civil rights violation as well as violation of free speech. Specifically St. Louis County Circuit Attorney Bob McCulloch, St. Louis City Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce, could face individual jeopardy for misuse of office.

Actually Governor Blunt himself could order his State Attorney to open an investigation.

Remember it was the democrats that accused President Bush of politicizing the Justice Department and this is far beyond that. Most likely the announcement of the DOJ will come this week.

UPDATE: STACLU with more.

CNN Spins Debate for Obama

Not that we are surprised. Via Commentary:

"CNN’s poll of debate viewers blares a puzzling headline: “Round 1 in debate goes to Obama, poll says.”

But the poll itself actually doesn’t say that. This is blatant editorializing on the part of CNN. The first problem is the numbers:

Fifty-one percent of those polled thought Obama did the better job in Friday night’s debate, while 38 percent said John McCain did better.

Buried way, way down at the bottom of the story — hopefully, one surmises, past the point where anyone would read — is the following:

The results may be favoring Obama simply because more Democrats than Republicans tuned in to the debate. Of the debate-watchers questioned in this poll, 41 percent of the respondents identified themselves as Democrats, 27 percent as Republicans and 30 percent as independents."

So basically the poll and the point is worthless.

Obama's Goose Stepping Truth Squads Out to Prosecute "Lying Ads"

Unbelievable. Talk about brown shirt, goose stepping Nazis! The Barack Obama campaign is asking Missouri law enforcement to target anyone who lies or runs a misleading TV ad during the presidential campaign.

I want to see them try and enforce this. Speaking of "ethics laws" these prosecutors are violating their oath of office. I wonder if any Republican in the state legislature is speaking out.

McCain/Obama Debate Tonight LIve Thread

Will be live-blogging the debate tonight between Obama and McCain. In spite of the depression of some of my compadres, I'm looking for McCain to embarrass the hell out of THE ONE and if THE ONE's former debate performances are any indication this ought to be fun.

Meanwhile, enjoy!

UPDATE: Debate begins. Note that Obama throws out the first lie. "Two years ago I warned about this crisis". That's a lie, McCain should call him on it!

9:12: Obama looks mad, this isn't good for him. Checking on that claim that he warned on the crisis two years ago, so far nothing coming up in Google or Nexus Lexus. By the way McCain looks much more direct and relaxed and not mad.

9:19: Obama is getting flustered after McCain called him on his BS that he cut earmarks since the beginning of his Senate career.

9:20: Obama talking about that "No one under $250,000 will be taxed more". But that is not true. Again many small business owners make $250,000 a year, but it's not saying that they are rich. Hit them with more taxes and it will still affect Americans in lost jobs and higher prices.

9:23: Obama, also should be called on this "tax cut for 95%" nonsense. About 45% of Americans don't even pay federal income taxes.

Palin Doesn't Have a Problem - Kathleen Parker does

Some idiot by the name of Katheleen Parker at NRO snuck in the back door and writes that Palin should step down. Her asinine reasoning?

"Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

Palin filibusters. She repeats words, filling space with deadwood. Cut the verbiage and there’s not much content there. Here’s but one example of many from her interview with Hannity: “Well, there is a danger in allowing some obsessive partisanship to get into the issue that we’re talking about today. And that’s something that John McCain, too, his track record, proving that he can work both sides of the aisle, he can surpass the partisanship that must be surpassed to deal with an issue like this.”

When Couric pointed to polls showing that the financial crisis had boosted Obama’s numbers, Palin blustered wordily: “I’m not looking at poll numbers. What I think Americans at the end of the day are going to be able to go back and look at track records and see who’s more apt to be talking about solutions and wishing for and hoping for solutions for some opportunity to change, and who’s actually done it?”

If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself"

Excuse me but we could say the same - and then some - about Barack Obama. Palin still has the edge on experience there and more. Parker is a Washington elite - which the problem with Washington now - that would have missed Ronald Reagan in 1980, calling him too "inexperienced" for the job.

Temporary Home

Sometime last night our host had a server error, thus the site has been down for about the last four hours. Unfortunately, this has been - as you know - happening for a while. At this point I'm considering moving the entire enterprise back here to blogspot. While it has it's own issues, it doesn't suffer from the outages that plague the cheep webhosts on the internet.

In any case I'm told things should be back up shortly.

Obama's Answer to Gas Prices - "Inflate your Tires"

No, really!

Did you get that? Taking care of your car would work better than drilling for our own oil.

John at Powerline fact checks:

"Just for fun, I did the math. Properly inflating your tires can improve gas mileage by 3%. Of course, many people already keep their tires properly inflated, and many more are at least close to being properly inflated. Let's be generous and assume that one-half of the total possible savings would be realized if we all inflated our tires properly; that's a net gain of 1.5% fuel efficiency.

Americans drive approximately 2,880 billion miles per year. If we average 24 mpg, we use around 120 billion gallons of gasoline in our vehicles. If, through perfect tire inflation, we improved our collective fuel efficiency by 1.5%, that would be 1.8 billion gallons. A barrel of oil produces around 20 gallons of gasoline, so the total savings available through tire inflation is approximately 90,000,000 barrels of oil annually.

How does this stack up against "all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling?"

ANWR: 10 billion barrels
Outer Continental Shelf: 18 billion barrels (estimated; the actual total is undoubtedly much higher, since exploration has been banned)
Oil shale: 1 trillion barrels

So, on the above assumptions, it would take only 11,308 years of proper tire inflation to equal "all the oil that they're talking about getting off drilling."

Obama is a curious case. He gives the impression of being an intelligent guy, but through his unscripted comments we have learned that he knows little about history, science or mathematics. He also seems rather shockingly short on common sense, as this most recent gaffe illustrates."

Yeah. There is a word for that that describes Obama in a nutshell.

Inflated.

I've got your "silly" and raise you a "sillier"

Ambinder, reports:

"John Weaver, for years one of John McCain's closest friends and confidants, has been in exile since his resignation from McCain's presidential campaign last year. With the exception of an occasional interview, he has, by his own account, bit his tongue as McCain's campaign has adopted a strategy that Weaver believes "diminishes John McCain."

With the release today of a McCain television ad blasting Obama for celebrity preening while gas prices rise, and a memo that accuses Obama of putting his own aggrandizement before the country, Weaver said he's had "enough."

The ad's premise, he said, is "childish."

"John's been a celebrity ever since he was shot down," Weaver said. "Whatever that means. And I recall Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush going overseas and all those waving American flags."
Weaver remains in contact with senior McCain strategists and, for a while early this year, regularly talked to McCain.

The strategy of driving up Obama's negatives "reduces McCain on the stage," Weaver said.
"For McCain to win in such troubled times, he needs to begin telling the American people how he intends to lead us. That McCain exists. He can inspire the country to greatness."

He added: "There is legitimate mockery of a political campaign now, and it isn't at Obama's. For McCain's sake, this tomfoolery needs to stop."

Well, I might agree, because Obama has enough baggage that is legit. But McCain's ad is targeted at the personal that Obama himself has been fostering with all "pomp and ceremony" and world tours and such. I mean, who's the star after all?

But while we are on the subject Marc, what's the big deal about McCain's $520 shoes?

Talk about "silly".

Obama's Missed Troop Visit - The "Fact" is he didn't go

I can't remember the last time I seen the MSM try to hard to cover up for a political candidate. No, I take that back, they did it with Kerry. Since Obama - for whatever lame reason - missed visiting wounded troops in Germany, the media has gone into full on "protect mode" to "fact check" and "correct and clarify".

Regardless of the reasons he missed the visit. From Lynn Sweet's blog comes this explanation from Obama.

"Here's the explanation Obama gave Saturday in London when asked about the cancelled visit to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center:

Q. Can you clear up the controversy about visiting the troops in Germany, the Pentagon said you were more welcome to come but you cant bring the media and were not allowed to bring campaign staff other than that you are more than welcome anytime, inaudible, we have gotten a few conflicting claims...

OBAMA: The staff was working this so I don't know each and every detail but here is what I understand happened. We had scheduled to go, we had no problem at all in leaving, we always leave press and staff off that is why we left it off the schedule. We were treating it in the same way we treat a visit to Walter Reed which I was able to do a few weeks ago without any fanfare whatsoever. I was going to be accompanied by one of my advisors, former military officer. And we got notice that he would be treated as a campaign person and it would therefore be perceived as political because he had endorsed my candidacy but he wasn't on the senate staff.

That triggered then a concern that maybe our visit was going to be perceived as political and the last thing that I want to do is have injured soldiers and the staff at these wonderful institutions having to sort through whether this is political or not or get caught in the crossfire between campaigns. So rather than go forward and potentially get caught up in what might have been considered a political controversy of some sort what we decided was that we not make a visit and instead I would call some of the troops that were that. So that essentially would be the extent of the story."

Senator, they wouldn't have sorted through a thing. Maybe some of them didn't even want you there. It's not a matter of who on your campaign pulled the trigger, the fact is that it's YOUR campaign and YOU should have called the shot to find a way to visit the troops.

Nothing can change the fact that you weren't in command of the situation and thus not there.

That's the only "Fact" that matters.
