Anticipation - "Are we there yet?" UPDATED - We're there! President to announce SCOTUS choice at 9pm

UPDATE: President Bush shoves the Plame Game to the back burner as he announces his SCOTUS choice at 9pm, EST.

Michelle Malkin is collecting links relevant to the news as well as reaction of other blogs of the speculation that it will be Edith Clement.

Now watch the MSM, "Joe Who?.....heh.

Via: Polipundit

"Senior administration officials have told select conservative leaders that President Bush is likely to nominate either Edith Jones or Edith Clement, members of the New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals…"

Polipundit thinks either is an excellent choice. I agree.

More about the potentials at the Hill.

Powerlineblog's getting the same info. Also the an update here.

Captain Ed's take here.

This from the Guardian UK:

"Known as a conservative and a strict constructionist in legal circles, Clement has eased fears among some abortion-rights advocates. She has stated that the Supreme Court ``has clearly held that the right to privacy guaranteed by the Constitution includes the right to have an abortion'' and that ``the law is settled in that regard."

Still, Nancy Keenan, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, said that Clement's record raises ``seriously troubling'' questions about her commitment to protecting personal freedom. ``Unless she was able to put those concerns to rest in Senate hearings, pro-choice Americans would oppose her nomination,'' Keenan said.

Confirm Them's run down of Judge Clement:

"I have been told by multiple parties that, though we know little about Judge Clement’s leanings on social issues, we should make no mistake that her family background is conservative and that her husband is a “loyal” conservative. Also, I’ve gotten a few emails and phone calls from a few particular people who would know who all say that we should trust the President on this pick. I also know that lawyers in my home state of Louisiana like Clement and do think she is conservative."

I think regardless on her views on abortion, the Democrats are going to fight her nomination if its for no other reason than their PAC's will, and basically the Democratic Party is nothing more than a PAC.

We'll see. Just hope whoever it is, it's not another Souter. To me years to get over that one! More links to follow.

UPDATE: Not Clement via ABC News.

So what now? Some are saying Brown. But I say Luttig

At this point it's too close to tell. 9pm is coming soon.
