Live Blogging the SOTU

9pm: Anytime now. Per Hugh Hewitt, Cindy Sheehan who had been invited to attend was removed (arrested) after trying to hang some lame assed banner. What a maroon.

9:05pm: President introduced. Good applause. Gives condolences for the passing of Coretta Scott King.

9:08pm: "Differences cannot be hardened into anger". The state of the union is strong.

9:10pm: Invokes 9/11. Mentioned threat of WMD. Stay on messge! Boldly defend freedom's cost. Good progress in Iraq. The success of freedom. Some men rage against it - radical islam. He's reminding the nation why we are fighting. Good recap. "We love our freedom and we will fight to keep it!" Fantastic! We cannot be isolationist. Ooooh, "NO HONOR IN RETREAT!" (Get that Murtha?) NEVER SURRENDER TO EVIL! I am on fire!

9:15pm: We have killed and captured many of their (Al Qaeda's) leaders. "We have a clear plan for victory". Again, good recap on progress in Iraq. With…

State of the Democratic Party

You know the saying, "Can't stand prosperity"?

Enter the Democratic Party. This afternoon while Justice Samuel Alito was being sworn in, Democrats were sitting in sackcloth and ashes wondering what hit them.

On the eve of President Bush's SOTU speech, the MSM is parading their same old tired and Democratic respondent weighted polls saying, "See? Bush is in BIG trouble!"

Forgetting of course that other less published polls (but more accurate) show it's basically 50/50 for the President at this point. But then it doesn't matter does it? He's not running again anyway.

Fact is that the Democratic Party is in disarray , not knowing what they believe, nor believing what they know. What was the term during the 2004 election? Oh yeah, "No core".

Even the press has taken notice. Lefty Extrordinaire Dana Milbank laments the anemia:

"The new Washington Post-ABC News poll finds congressional Democrats in the best position they've held in …

President Bush's State of the Union Address

Look for the Democrats to act up tonight (watch Ted Kennedy's eyes). They're not a happy bunch now that Alito has been sworn in, you can bet your canteen cup of joe on that.

Things I want him to talk about?

1. Economy. The news is good - so preach the good news! Every sector is showing marked growth. Democrats will balk, but to their own choir, the American Public knows it's sweet. Don't hold back.

2. BORDERS, BORDERS, BORDERS.....!!!! NUFF SAID! Fix it!

3. Progress in Iraq. It's phenomimal and unprecedented. I would love to see Bush mention Christine Amanpour's stupid assed statement and show where she is nothing less than dead wrong. CNN would implode! Wolf would drop that damned clip board!

4. Call the Capital Police and arrest Senator John D. Rockefeller Jr. for treason. I know - premature - it's coming, but it would make great TV.

Go get 'em George!

More wishlists at Michelle Malkin; Polipundit

Macranger's Word to Democrats on Alito

Nuff said.

UPDATE: He's in by a 58 to 42 vote which the MSM is quick to tell us "is the smallest margin in recent history". Who cares. If you win a football game it doesn't matter if you win by one point or twenty (except in Vegas), YOU WIN!

So much for 'negative polls' and how they've neutered the Bush agenda.

UPDATE: Just to rub it in. Let the yet unborn rejoice.

Professor Bainbridge was right and he's letting us know about it!

So?

Does anyone care what Mrs. Saddamthinks?

Anyone?

Anyone at all?

More at Michelle Malkin who notes Peter Arnett was also present.

Partial transcript that says it all:

"AMANPOUR: If we don't do it, who does it? We have had, uh, we have to have an independent eye on these conflicts. The war in Iraq has basically turned out to be a disaster. And journalists have paid for it, uh, paid for the privilege for witnessing and reporting that. And so have many, many other people who have been there. And I think that's terribly, terribly difficult for us. And unfortunately, for some reason which I can't fathom, the kind of awful thing that's going on there now on a daily basis has almost become humdrum. So when something happens to people that we identify, like Bob and like Doug, we wake up again and realize, no, this is not acceptable, what's going on there. And it's a terrible situation."

Ahhhhhhhh...STFU, you you pro-Palestinian twit!

No one asked you to go over ther…

Able Danger - Lancing the Boil - More of the story unfolds

Journalist Peter Lance who has been investigating 9/11 since before anyone thought of investigating it, was on Lou Dobbs tonight talking about the Yousef/Scarpa connection in reference to Able Danger. For those not familiar with the story, Mobster Gergory Scarpa Jr. was serving a thirty- year hitch at Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) where WTC-1 suspect Ramzi Yousef was housed awaiting trial in '96. Seems Yousef couldn't contain himself and was yapping his head off and bragging to Scarpa about all the dirty deeds he had done and sins yet to come.

Frontpage Magazine interviewed Lance in 2005 and here is what he had to say about the Yousef/Scarpa connection in what became known about the "FBI #302" memos:

"In the weeks prior to the downing of TWA 800 the FBI was alerted by Colombo crime family member Gregory Scarpa Jr. that Ramzi Yousef -- who was in a cell next to Scarpa Jr. at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) -- was arranging to have his …

Tales from the Pit

El-Dunderhead resurfaces - maybe....

" "My second message is to the American people, who are drowning in illusions. I tell you that Bush and his gang are shedding your blood and wasting your money in frustrated adventures," he said, speaking in a forceful and angry voice.

"The lion of Islam, Sheik Osama bin Laden, may God protect him, offered you a decent exit from your dilemma. But your leaders, who are keen to accumulate wealth, insist on throwing you in battles and killing your souls in Iraq and Afghanistan and _ God willing _ on your own land."

Sounds a lot like Al Gore or Howard Dean doesn't it? Hell it sounds a lot like Hillary Clinton of late. At least this moron could get his material from better places than Daily Kos.

Who knows when these tapes were made or even who really cares at this point. Fact is that boy has been denutered and rendered ineffective as a little dog.

A sniveling, bug infested and hell-destined little dog.

McCain - The Yellow Dog Don't Bark

Via National Review's Mark Levin:

"One of the primary and most compelling criticisms of the Clinton administration's approach to terrorism was that it treated terrorism as a criminal rather than national-security matter. The enemy declared war on us years earlier, attacking various U.S. targets and killing U.S. citizens, and we indicted them if we could muster enough evidence. Despite 9/11, today many in Congress and the judiciary, with prodding by the media and left-wing (legal) activists, continue to treat the war on terrorism as Clinton did. And one of the most vocal sponsors of this approach is John McCain.

Despite his tough talk about sending more troops to Iraq (the benefit of which is and was debatable), McCain has led an effort to diminish the traditional war-power authority of the president."

This isn't to take away from McCain's heroism and sacrifice shown this country during the Vietnam War. But in my estimation, his yellow dog tatics and proposals a…

Stupid Lefty Tricks

Democrats will do anything to USE our wounded.

..."That means we must convince 41 Senators to either support a filibuster or stay away from the Senate on Monday, preferably by visiting maimed soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital...."

Via this lefty blog, "Either lead, follow or get out of the way!"

How about STFU....?

Alito's in. Get over it.

That's what happens when you win elections. You don't use our wounded soldiers to make your political upchuck - you wretched simpletons.

.....morons!

.....idiots!

Dead Head

The dying NSA story and the Hillary Factor

Sorry Kos Kids, you can stick a fork in the NSA story. It's dead.

On To Meet the Press roundtable today, Roger Simon said in reference to the NSA 'scandal':

"One more point on that. Unlike past administrations, notably the Nixon administration, there’s no evidence that the Bush administration has used this warrantless surveillance for political purposes. When the president says, ‘I’m doing this to protect the United States of America, there’s no evidence that he is in any way prevaricating. And that is why, I think, so many people are saying, as Kelly pointed out, ‘Well, I don’t talk to al-Qaeda every night, so let them tap my phones all they want to.’ And as long as this remains a genuine attempt to prevent another terrorist attack on the United States, I think the president is going to skate on this."

Well before one can "skate", you would have to say something wrong has been done. There is no evidence of that either. But while the MSM and their const…

The Abramoff Scandal and the Republican-focused MSM

Missed the news shows today, but AJ caught Howard Dean laying an egg on Fox News Sunday.

"In discussing the Ambramoff scandal on Fox News Sunday, DNC Chairman Howard Dean claimed no Democrat did anything in response to funds coming from Ambramoff’s direction, and if they did they would be in serious trouble.

A little later in the program, Chirs Wallace pointed out that the Washington Post reported last fall on a letter Sen Minority leader Harry Reid wrote to Secretary Norton for Indian interests represented by Abramoff - who supposedly directed the interests where to funnel donations.

Even KOS Kids new Reid was in trouble for this one.

I think it is time for Reid to be investigated and I think he should step down from his leadership position."

That would be a start. The MSM - with the exceptions noted above by and large have ignored Democratic - specifically Harry Reid's involvement in the Abramhoff brouhaha.

Yet at this point all the country sees is that one party the Rep…

Plame Game - Andrea and Little Russ up a Creek?

Boy........I told you so....via Tom Mcguire:

"The Libby defense team recently filed a request for the court to order Special Counsel Fitzgerald to turn over the information he gleaned in his many court tussles with reporters during his investigation of the Plame leak.

Links to the filings are here; we find a special bit of bad news for the Washington Desk of NBC News:

Another issue concerning Mr. Russert’s expected testimony which the defense needs to investigate to examine him effectively at trial is whether any of the NBC reporters who worked for him were aware of Ms. Wilson’s identity prior to July 14, 2003. (6) If any such NBC reporters knew this information before that time, the defense would be entitled to gather that information to prepare its cross-examination of Mr. Russert. Once the defense gets further information about the sources who disclosed Ms. Wilson’s employment status, we can investigate whether these sources were in communication with any reporters in the NBC Wa…
