Driveby Media Alert

Five minutes aga via my local affiliate CB-S 4 here in Miami:

"(CBS4 News) WEST PALM BEACH Sources have confirmed to CBS4 News that conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been detained at Palm Beach International Airport for the possible possession of illegal prescription drugs Monday evening.

Limbaugh was returning on a flight from the Dominican Republic when officials found the drugs, among them Viagra.

Limbaugh entered a plea deal back in April in a previous case where his charge of fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions was dropped under the condition he continue undergoing treatment for addiction.

Limbaugh had admitted to being addicted to pain killers on his radio program and had entered a rehabilitation program prior to that arrest."

In fact as Drudge is now reporting:

"UPDATE: Rush Limbaugh 'had no illegal drugs or prescription drug obtained illegally in his possession,' source says, contrary to a claim by CBS-TV in Miami... MORE..." Note this was also confirmed by WABC Radio news per a reader.

In fact he's home already. No matter the left wing media get's it's drive by nonetheless. Great work!

I just bet you all would want to know how the "warm and touchy" NEW party of the Kos treats the story WITHOUT verifcation.

Damn! Such empathy! Somebody hand me a hanky.

UPDATE: Google news. Three links to the same story? I think once would have been enough eh?

UPDATE II: Drudge: "Miami, FL -- June 26, 2006 -- Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh's attorney, issued the following statement today in response to several inquiries by the media:

While going through routine Customs inspection of luggage at Palm Beach International Airport upon his return from an international trip, Rush Limbaugh was detained by customs agents after they noticed a non-narcotic prescription drug, which had been prescribed by Mr. Limbaugh's treating physician but labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes. After a brief interview, Mr. Limbaugh was permitted to continue on his journey."

UPDATE III: Sounds like a set up. Via the AP (of course):

"WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Rush Limbaugh was detained for about three-and-a-half hours Monday at Palm Beach International Airport after authorities said they found a bottle of Viagra in his possession without a prescription.

The 55-year-old radio commentator's luggage was examined by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after his private plane landed at the airport around 2 p.m. from the Dominican Republic, said Paul Miller, spokesman for the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office.

ICE officials found in Limbaugh's luggage a prescription bottle labeled as Viagra, a prescription drug that treats erectile disfunction, Miller said.

"The problem was that on the bottle itself was not his name, but the name of two Florida doctors," Miller said.

The matter was turned over to the sheriff's office, whose investigators interviewed Limbaugh.

"He said he had the Viagra in his possession for his use and that he did obtain it from his doctors," Miller said.

Sheriff's investigators confiscated the drugs, and Limbaugh was released around 5:30 p.m. without being charged.

However, the sheriff's office plans to file a report with the state attorney's office.

"We believe there may be a second degree misdemeanor violation, which is possession of certain drugs without a prescription, because the bottle does not have his name on it," Miller said.

A doctor had prescribed the drug, but it was "labeled as being issued to the physician rather than Mr. Limbaugh for privacy purposes," Roy Black, Limbaugh's attorney, said in a statement.

Last month, Limbaugh reached a deal with prosecutors who had accused the conservative talk-show host of illegally deceiving multiple doctors to receive overlapping pain pill prescriptions. Under the deal, a single charge commonly referred to as "doctor shopping" would be dismissed after 18 months if he complies with terms that include submitting to random drug tests and continuing treatment for his acknowledged addiction to painkillers."

Aside from the "weenie" jokes, the worst that can happen with Viagra is - well. Additionally many of the people who have back injuries such as Rush suffer from ED and thus use the stuff. But a greater question exists here. Did the State Attorney's Office and PBSO lie in wait for Rush? If so, it's an incredible waste of time as this wouldn't be enough for a violation of his agreement, and it's not necessarily illegal in florida to have a prescription without your name on it so long as the doctor can verify he prescribed it to you, he'll the Pharmacist is the one who types the label and he types it according to what the doctor wrote on the prescription. So I have no clue what the big deal is here, except it's again Democratic Palm Beach and Conservative Rush Limbaugh.

Besides, the PBSAO had no original case anyway. In case you didn't know (the MSM didn't report it this way), the SAO was the one who sought the deal (they had no case and were spending a lot of money going no where).

So we'll see, but the radar is up on this joke already.

UPDATE: CNN Story, "Limbaugh's latest drug run-in: Viagra". Again, it's not illegal in the Florida Statues, and Viagra isn't a narcotic. Good luck pushing that through.

UPDATE II: Remember, these are the idiots that want to run america. Doesn't Olbermann use viagra? How this guy get's called anything but a hack journalist is beyond me.
