The UN oil for food scandal has blown wide open:
"UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- A wide-ranging United Nations investigation into oil-for-food program abuses was published Monday, naming the group's head and one of his senior officers as having accepted or solicited bribes.
Within hours, ex-procurement officer Alexander Yakovlev was in a U.S. federal court pleading guilty to a raft of charges -- his diplomatic immunity having been withdrawn.
Yakovlev resigned from the United Nations in June amid further allegations that he helped get his son a job with a firm doing business with the world body.
The oil-for-food program's former chief, Benon Sevan -- accused in the report of receiving more than $147,000 in kickbacks -- was believed to be in Cyprus. The program, which ran from 1996 to 2003, enabled Iraq to sell oil in return for humanitarian goods such as food, medicine and supplies.
Sevan made no comment Monday but on Sunday details of his resignation letter to Secretary-General Kofi Annan were released in which he insisted he was innocent and accused Annan and the world body of making him a scapegoat."
However, CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC are all "late to the party" on this report.
The fact is that FOX News, and specifically Eric Shawn, broke this story over two years ago.
The MSM didn't want to touch it until they 'had to".
Yet this is only the tip of the iceberg. So far Kofi Annan has escaped fault in the matter, but that's not going to last for long. As this scandal widens, others - even heads of state will come under scrutiny. We should know their names, just think back to the main countries that were against our going into Iraq to oust Saddam.
The reason - the only reason they didn't was because of all the moolah they were getting from the Oil for Food problem.
Which is why Jacques Chirac's recent falling from French favor is so significant. So long as he leads France, he is immune. But let him leave office and it's "honey get the cuffs". Personally, I can't wait to see the BIG frog marched!
