Plame Game - MSM Wagging the Dog

Typical....

MSM is panting over this report about Karl and his fifth appearance to the Fitz-Fizz party.

"WASHINGTON - Top White House aide Karl Rove prepared to testify Wednesday for a fifth time before the federal grand jury investigating the leak of a CIA officer’s identity, a person familiar with the case told NBC News.

Rove consulted with his private lawyers before a scheduled afternoon court appearance and was prepared to answer questions about evidence that emerged since his last grand jury appearance last fall, the person said, speaking only on condition of anonymity because of grand jury secrecy rules.

That new evidence includes information that emerged late last year that Rove’s attorney, Robert Luskin, had conversations with Time magazine reporter Viveca Novak during a critical time in the case."

The operative word here is "scheduled". This has been on the docket for a while now. Loose ends that's all. And the kicker? The media knew about this for a quite a while - it's hardly newsworthy.

In fact I wouldn't be a bit suprised if this wasn't a bit of "wag the dog" by the MSM to take the attention off the growing Mary Loose Lips story.

Ought to be, the Plame Game is done.

UPDATE: Per York at NRO, Rove not a target - as I told you.

"Karl Rove has finished testifying before prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald's CIA leak investigation grand jury. After the appearance, Rove lawyer Robert Luskin issued a statement:

Karl Rove appeared today before the grand jury investigating the disclosure of a CIA agent's identity. He testified voluntarily and unconditionally at the request of special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald to explore a matter raised since Mr. Rove's last appearance in October 2005. In connection with this appearance, the special counsel has advised Mr. Rove that he is not a target of the investigation. Mr. Fitzgerald has affirmed that he has made no decisions regarding charges. At the request of the special counsel, Mr. Rove will not discuss the substance of his testimony."

Tip: This one is bad news for certian media types.

(Paging Matt Cooper....Mr. Cooper???)
