Make NO mistake, there would be a substantial penalty for early withdraw

Fox News: "An influential House Democrat who voted for the Iraq war called Thursday for the immediate withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, another sign of growing unease in Congress about the conflict. "It is time for a change in direction," said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., one of Congress' most hawkish Democrats. "Our military is suffering, the future of our country is at risk. We cannot continue on the present course. It is evident that continued military action in Iraq is not in the best interests of the United States of America, the Iraqi people or the Persian Gulf region."

Really?

"Our military is suffering". How about asking those that are there "Mr influential?" By the way, you can find more pics like the one on the left here. They were taken by those who know what it's like and what they are there for.

The MSM is playing this up as a BIG BREAK, but it's really the same position Murtha's had for over a year now. So much for "breaking news".

More seem to be joining the premature party, but in essense they are the same dead weights as usual - what else is new.

They all ought to read Senator McCain's take on an early pull out and how devastating that would actually be. I'm not, as you know, a McCain fan, but he nailed this issue dead center.

Good thing we have a President who isn't going to abandon the Iraqis like the Left of the 70s abandoned the people of South Vietnam and left them to be slaughtered by Pol Pot. Not this time - we stay until the job is finished.

UPDATE: Senator Flip/Flop One speaks: “I won’t stand for the swift-boating of Jack Murtha,” Sen. John Kerry, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2004, responded Friday. Also a Vietnam veteran, Kerry was dogged during the campaign by a group called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that challenged his war record.

“There is no sterner stuff than the backbone and courage that defines Jack Murtha’s character and conscience,” Kerry said."

Zzzzzzzz.......

Hey doof, no one's questoning his "patriotism" (what is with Democrats and this insecurity about patriotism? Cripes get a teddy bear or something!). We're questioning his motives (was that Ms Pelosi with him?) and especially his memory as he said the same thing in 2004.

I don't care how many medal you have on your chest, if you're wrong, you're wrong, and Murtha is dead wrong about Iraq. He has a right to say what he said, and damn it we've got a right to call his butt on it! So stuff it Lurch!
