My What a Change a War Makes!

As readers know, I've been informing them about the rapid and curious changes in Joe Wilson's Rhetoric shown in early '03. But he wasn't alone. In fact, the entire DNC did an about face and backed away from statements they made over the previous six years about Saddam Hussein just about the same time.

But first a little background, on good old Mr. Wilson. Up to December of 2002, Joe Wilson had been working closely with former VP Al Gore with whom he had enjoyed a long and profitable relationship. He had in fact worked as a aide for Gore in 85-86, and then through the years, even advising President Clinton on his trips to Africa. When Gore announced he wouldn't be running in December of 2004, Wilson began to work with John Kerry advising him on foriegn policy in May of 2003.

Now the change that I noted in Wilson was really only 'skin deep' as the only thing that really changed dramatically was the tone of his rhetoric. For in fact, Wilson during 2002 had been associated with Brent Scowcroft, though which he made anti-war presentations to the American-Turkish Council in May of 2002. It was through his relationship with Mr. Scowcroft that Wilson was introduced to former ambassador to Morocco under Clinton, Marc Ginsberg, and joined his group, The Alliance for American Leadership. This is key becuase ulimately Ginsburg would place Wilson on the speaking circuit, howbeit, shall we say "undercover", speaking anonymously first to Nicolas Kristof (through NY Times OPED editor Gail Collins), and Walter Pincus and Richard Leiby of the Washington Post, David Shipley of the New York Times, as well as The Nation's David Corn.

When the time was right, the 'suspense building' as it was, Wilson was launched by Collins on July 6th, through his editorial, "What I didn Find in Africa".

Meanwhile on January 6th, 2003, Capital Hill Blue obtains a 'leaked' memo showing a plan by Democrats to accuse the Bush Administration among other things of "manufacturing” evidence against Saddam Hussein and used that evidence to encourage Britain and other allies to join the American fight against Iraq."

This of course is amazing given statements Democrats were giving at the time specifically Senator John Kerry:

"Without question we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator leading an impressive regime. He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation. And now he's miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction. His consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction." - John Kerry, January 23rd, 2003

and before him.

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction."

"Ted Kennedy September 27th, 2002

So the question is, "What Changed" and changed rapidly. The fact is that nothing changed. It was all part of the plan, but the Memo got out and they had to delay it for a while. So they waited until November 2003 when another memo got leaked from Rockefeller's office, showing yet more 'stragegery' to "get Bush".

Senator Rockefeller had obviously forgotten his previous statement:

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." -- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

The sad part is now that the story is becoming so clear, the fake leak, the niger forgeries, the fake stories and designed leaks ot the media (books, movies, etc) that went on all throughout 2004, that now even though we can all see through the Democrat's bull crap and ruse, they're still at it. Evidenced by yesterday's embare-assing stunt Harry and Dick pulled in the Senate. Yeah, Harry, let's have that "further look", I talked with a former staffer of your's, he's waiting to come public - make our day.

The fact is that Harry Reid (the term Senator isn't befitting), and Turbin Durbin, are wetting their pants along with other Democrats because Saint Fitz pissed on their moonbat party. All this calling for The Senate Intelligence Committee to "hurry" on the report, we will now have a bipartisen review of the bipartisen review of the bipartisen report, is a game and show. We already had a report on the matter and it showed no influenced or baked up intel. But facts don't matter to madmen (and women). It was striking that in all the hubbub over the Dick and Harry Roadshow, you didn't see Hillary out there. Nope! She's nuts, but not that nuts.

But I am reminded, "For whom the gods would destroy, they first make mad!"

It isn't pretty, but it's fun to watch.
