"President Obama said this week that his health care plan won't cover illegal immigrants, but argued that's all the more reason to legalize them and ensure they eventually do get coverage.
He also staked out a position that anyone in the country legally should be covered - a major break with the 1996 welfare reform bill, which limited most federal public assistance programs only to citizens and longtime immigrants.
"Even though I do not believe we can extend coverage to those who are here illegally, I also don't simply believe we can simply ignore the fact that our immigration system is broken," Mr. Obama said Wednesday evening in a speech to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute. "That's why I strongly support making sure folks who are here legally have access to affordable, quality health insurance under this plan, just like everybody else.
Mr. Obama added, "If anything, this debate underscores the necessity of passing comprehensive immigration reform and resolving the issue of 12 million undocumented people living and working in this country once and for all."
Republicans said that amounts to an amnesty, calling it a backdoor effort to make sure current illegal immigrants get health care."And it is. Giving healthcare to those who came here illegally is madness and again shows that not only is Obama out of control, he's just clinch a Republican Sweep in 2010 and 2010.
American by a wide margin oppose giving healthcare to illegals and indeed want illegal immigrants to be shown the border back to where they came from. Obama is proposing a sweeping amnesty, and on top of that adding millions to his plan for tax payer supported government healthcare for illegals.

Mac, if there is one thing that will make 70% of Americans take to the streets in protest of this administration it will be his attempt to legalize the illegal and give them health insurance to boot on the backs of those who are paying taxes. He just thinks the phone lines were shut down during the Shamnesy Bill debate.
Reply DeleteAmericans in border states know their hospitals are closing because they can't afford to treat the illegals that are here. Open up health care to them and the flood of new illegals will be like the water of the tsunami when it hit Bande Ache.
Obama seems to think it is impossible for him to overreach. He has apparently bought into the whole "messiah" thing. He can do no wrong.
Well, maybe the student of history that he claims to be should spend a little more time studying. Never have I seen Americans so united in one cause since the late 60's, early 70s when they protested the war in Vietnam. If Obama thinks protests can't change policy, he is only kidding himself.
This guy is full of himself. It will be his downfall.
