North Korea Crazy Kim Watch - II

Well Crazy Kim took a shot, well, three of them, just to coincide with the Shuttle lift off.

"TOKYO - North Korea launched a long-range missile Wednesday that may be capable of reaching the United States but it failed after 35 or 40 seconds, two State Department officials said.

The missile was one of at least three that were fired. The two others were short-range missiles. All landed in the Sea of Japan, said the Japanese government, which was unable to confirm that they included a long-range missile.

The officials in Washington, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the long-range missile was the Taepodong-2, North Korea's most advanced missile with a range of up to 9,320 miles.

The launch came after weeks of speculation that the North was preparing to test its advanced Taepodong-2 missile from a site on its northeast coast. The preparations had generated stern warnings from the United States and Japan, which had threatened possible economic sanctions in response.

The Sea of Japan lies between Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

"North Korea has gone ahead with the launch despite international protest," Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said.

"That is regrettable from the standpoint of Japan's security, the stability of international society, and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."

The reclusive communist state launched the first missile at 3:32 a.m., or 2:32 p.m. Tuesday EDT, and it crashed into the Sea of Japan several minutes later, public broadcaster NHK reported. NHK said two missiles were confirmed launched, but Kyodo quoted a government official as saying four missiles may have been fired.

Han Song Ryol, deputy chief of North Korea’s mission to the U.N. in New York, told The Associated Press in a telephone interview: “We diplomats do not know what the military is doing.”

Watching CNN, where yet another former CIA analysts is downplaying the threat Kim poses, and has the achchors doing the bobble-head. "See, he isn't so bad - keep up the diplomacy!"

Yeah, diplomacy. The Taepodong-2 failed, but I'm not surprised. NK's lack of preventative maintenance is legendary. I remember sitting on the DMZ in '77 and eye-balling their T-62's accross the line, half of which didn't run, and when they did they sounded like grinding gears. Most likely these were "rubber-dummies", or prototypes designed to send a message and annoy the west.

Don't worry Kim - we're getting more annoyed all the time.

Yet that all said there is no diplomacy with Kim. No doubt the US and allies will refer to the UN Security Counsel which is about as useless as screen doors on a submarine. Screw the "Six-Pack-Party" talks. The time for talk is done. Any nut that starves his people while rattling a saber, is a nut that needs to be cracked.

Simply, It's time to take off the kit gloves and eliminate Kim from contention. I don't think the US will actually have to take him out, there are 'other options', and some of those are most likely now in action.

UPDATE: Per Fox - North Korea isn't done yet. Reports coming in that a couple of more Scuds and another Taepodong-2 have been launched. That makes a total of six launches, the latter TD-2 at 6:31 EST. At this point I'm backing off the rubber dummying, looks more like preliminary testing of the rockets to get the delivery correct. That decidedly hightens the urgency.

UPDATE II - Corrections coming in now, on above now only five missles. Standing by until they sort this out. Heh...."The Situation Room" at CNN is getting input from Sandy "Docks in his Socks" Berger......*click*.

Per ABC News "The first two missiles launched appeared to be short- or mid-range missiles — a Scud and a Nodong — and both fell into the Sea of Japan. The third — which broke up less than a minute after it launched — was the longer range missile, sources said. The fourth missile launched was another Scud, and after that another Nodong, which has a range that could include Japan." h/t Allah Pundit.

NBC News reporting that NORAD is on B-plus (no brainer there). I know my former scouts out of the 2ID are up for the game!

UPDATE III: Per Fox News, an additional Scud was launched about 19:30 hours, that would make, six, or seven or wait it out until someone get's the crap together. Cripes....

Get the Seventh Fleet up! Folks, this is going to get hot real quick, my board is buzzing. We are fluid.

Morning update: Seventh missile fired, South Korean's protesting the launches and ROK and American Forces mobilizing to the border.

UPDATE III: US appeals to UN for Sanctions. Just playing through, that gang of thugs is on the North Korean welcome wagon, but we have to play the game.

As we said in the Imjim Scouts "Keep up the Fight", never forget!

UPDATE IV: AJ Strata introduces the LEFT + MISSILE DEFENSE game. Play at home!

UPDATE V: Chia Joe "Crazy Kim no problem you funny GI!".

Joe say, "I think ultimately going to have to sit down with these guys, they are so immature, they are so ham-handed, it is frighteningly naive the way they act. That's the part that worries me about them, not their nuclear program and missiles at the moment," he said."

No Joe, you and your buds are frightful. Never forget: Democrats + National Security = DEAD PEOPLE.

UPDATE VI: More missiles? Possible, but at this point the US is playing it cool, waiting to see - possibly hoping that Kim lobs one across the border into the south just to give us an "IN". Basically Kim is a crazy man with a gun against his head threatening to shoot. The US is saying, "Go ahead". Further all the dancing with the UN Security Counsel and other nations is again showing the ineptness of that agency to be of any use in a dangerous world. We need to take care of Kim and now.

UPDATE VII: Who else but former Clinton appointee and China gate leaker Gov. Bill Richardson chiming in with his two-non-sense nobody asked for.
