Israel: This IS War - II

I've purposely stayed out of the commenting of the Israeli thrust into Lebanon letting others like the Powerline blog and AJ Strata take the lead. This in spite of a certain expertise (I worked with a Army team of IC specialist afer the Beruit Bombing in the early 80s).

Specifically Powerline points to David Horowitz who mans the Frontpage Magazine website, and this article called, Moment of Truth.

"Americans need to take a hard look at what is going on in the Middle East, because it provides the clearest picture possible of the war we are in. On one side are al-Qaeda, Hamas, Hizbollah, Syria and Iran and their allies: Russia, France, Greece, and the UN majority. On the other is the only democracy in the land of Muslim and Arab terror. The origins of this front in the war on terror are crystal clear: the desire of the Muslim terrorists -- the elected majority among Palestinian Arabs and the occupying Shi'ite army in Lebanon, backed by Syria and Iran -- to destroy Israel and push the Jews into the sea.

The war reveals the impossibility of a Palestinian state and the necessity of a civilized occupying force in a region that is populated by a people who have been terminally brainwashed into an ideology of hate, which makes their self-government a crime waiting to happen."

The fact that "Ishmael and Issac" will never dwell peacefully is now an established fact. If the last fifty-years or so history in the region don't tell you that, nothing well. The so-called Hamas experiment is over, and the only way we gain peace in the middle east is to rid the area of Islamic terrorists for ever. It's just as Bush and others like myself have been saying all along, terrorism will not be eliminated until the sources (financial and ideological) are rooted out and destroyed.

Interestingly enough David pulls no punches in mentioning Russia, France, Greece and the UN, all of which are anti-Israel/pro-Palestine. It's also time that they be called to account for not only their moral support, but in the case of Iran their material support.

As Robert Satloff writes in the Weekly Standard:

"In fact, the quartet of Iran, Syria, Hamas, and Hezbollah constitutes a better oiled, more cohesive unit than the diplomatic quartet of the United States, the U.N., the E.U., and Russia. Indeed, the rogue foursome is linked ideologically and operationally in a much more organic way than the charter members of the Axis of Evil ever were."

Now that Israel has issued the utimatum to Syria to reign in Hizbullah (never going to happen), or else "disasterous consequences", it looks like the balloon that went up five days ago is about to pop.

The Jawa Report concurs:

"Syria will not restrain Hizbullah and may be unable to do so without Iran's agreement. Iran appears to be the major sponsor now. If the report above is true, Israel will attack Syria for supporting the terrorist group. Iran will be forced into the war in order to maintain its credibility in the region and to honor the mutual defense agreement it made with Syria in June.
The war will be much wider soon. The big question is: how much support will the US provide to Israel when it is facing the Palestinians, Hezbullah, Syria and Iran? Will we use this opportunity to strike at Iran's nuclear facilities?"

No, but we might let Israel do it for us.

UPDATE: Rush Limbaugh wrote an essay back in 2001 called "Unleash Israel and Win Peace". Check it out while it's up on the site.

"Talk and land-for-peace appeasement don't work. Victory does! " - Rush Limbaugh.

Couldn't agree more.

UPDATE: The G-8 show that they have a pair! Statement issued this afternoon:

"ST PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) - Group of Eight leaders on Sunday blamed extremists for an upsurge of Middle East violence and while accepting Israel's right to defend itself said the Jewish state should exercise "utmost restraint."

Setting out conditions for an end to violence, G8 leaders in summit talks in Russia put the onus on Hizbollah militants to restore peace by releasing abducted Israelis and ending attacks on Israel.

Then the Israeli offensive against Lebanon could end, said the statement.

"These extremist elements and those that support them cannot be allowed to plunge the Middle East into chaos," said the text hammered out by the leaders of the world's richest nations."

Well how about that! Yet they do add:

""We call upon Israel to exercise utmost restraint," it added."

Screw that. Here's to Israel kicking it up a notch! Oh! thank you!
